Being that the power was in the "judgement of the gods," many folks just go ahead and say that Zeus declared the ruler that the others had already decided. Poseidon and Athena each gave a gift to the city to decide who would rule over it. Athena gave the city an olive tree which helped the city very much. Poseidon gave them either a salty spring of water or a horse. They decided the olive tree was a better gift and from then on it was Athena's city, the Athens.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
